ANOTHER YES CONCERT! Keswick Theater is one of my favorite places to see a concert. And they have been pretty much the go-to place for our classic rockers, particularly over the last several years. I last saw Yes there three years ago...almost to the day...and now they were back!
Reasonable distance from where I live, reasonable prices, FREE PARKING...not too shabby in 2025!
And Yes is one of those groups that like to mix up the setlist...putting in different things each year. In fact I was very happy to see old favorites like And You & I and Yours Is No Disgrace put aside this year for some other cuts that we seldom ever get to hear, like Madrigal, On the Silent Wings of Freedom and Wonderous Stories. And I hope they continue to do this...as well as treating us to WHOLE ALBUMS...like FRAGILE tonight.
But one of the pitfalls of Yes is the fact that most their songs are so lengthy that there is a limited amount of time, so they can't get to everything. Many of their newer recent songs, such as The Ice Bridge, Cut From the Stars, Dare To Know, Believe Again, From a Page and numerous more seem to never get their due. Or they'll play a song on the tour for that particular album, then it gets dropped and never heard from again. But I totally understand why. And people wanna hear the BIGGIES! But it was cool to hear the newer Circles of Time and a YESSIFIED arrangement of the Beatles The Word.
Guitarist Steve Howe still keeps the Yes flag flying, joined by Asia co-founder and fellow Yes alum Geoff Downes on keyboards, plus drummer Jay Schellen, bassist Billy Sherwood (who looks and sounds like they cloned a younger Chris Squire in a giant test tube!) and lead singer Jon Davison, who's been in the band 13 years now and sings flawlessly...never missing a note.
